PAMPLONA

Hi guys!

I visited Pamplona a couple of times and i really love it, so i would like to show you one of the most beautiful cities in Spain.
Located in the north of Spain, PAMPLONA (팜플로나 ^o^) is the historical capital of the kingdom of Navarre. you've probably heard about this city is famous worldwide for the Festival of San Fermín. Held in July 6th to 14th, in which the running of the bulls is one of the main attractions for thousand of tourist.
But right now i'd like to focus more in the historical heritage of the city..

The old town of Pamplona is very beautiful, it can be considered almost a fairytale landscape, with the walls of the fortress, gardens.. In my opinion is better for tourist discover the city in spring or autumm, the landscape is more charming and the ambient is more quiet.

The oldest part of the old city is called Navarrería, which corresponds with the Roman city. In a pleasant walk you can find several important church such, the Gothic Cathedral, built in the 14th century with an outstanding cloister and a Neoclassical façade. Saint Sernin Church and Saint Nicholas Church, both built during the 13th century.

Walking around the narrow streets of the old town you do not forget to enjoy the windows of small Antiques shops and bakeries! you will be led by the smell of the sweets and freshly bread baked. In my last trip people were waiting outside to buy madeleines and Churros because the bakery was really small. Also you can find several souvenir shops, bars where you can find delicious pintxos (tapa).
In Pamplona Tapas are not free.

Pamplona has many parks and green areas, you can find nature everywhere

The Citadel, the main architectural focal point in the city of Pamplona, is also considered the best example of military architecture from the Spanish Renaissance and one of the most outstanding defensive fortifications to have been designed in Europe.

Nowadays is a public park, closed to traffic, with generous lawns and a network of paths. fountains, benches for a sit-down, a small children’s play park and some thirty, different species of tree.

Together with the Vuelta del Castillo, which surrounds it, the Citadel makes up the great green space in Pamplona, 280,000 square metres in which pavilions, moats, bastions, ravelins, fortifitions, other buildings and gentle slopes are places where tourists and locals can relax or enjoy sport or culture.
In fact, when i went there on weekend morning I saw many people practicing martial arts in the grass, running around the paths.. I really enjoyed it.

Other site that you do not miss to visit is The Park of La Taconera, was created in around 1830, is the city’s oldest and most beautiful park. Located near the center of the city and I'll recommend you visit it, lots of people go there for wedding pictures because is very lovely place full of flowers, wonderful statues and there is also a small zoo enclosure with deer, ducks, rabbits and peacocks. There are many families and couple who go there to feed the animals

San Fermin

Hi everyone!

If you are an adventurous tourist, and if you wanna try a typical Spanish experience...
Today i'm gonna tell you a bit about: San Fermines!

This festival is really popular in whole Spain, San Fermines is held in the north, in the city of Pamplona, starts on the 6th of July and ends 14th of July. The opening of the festival is marked with a rocket fired from the city hall balcony, this act is call 'el chupinazo'

During all week of San Fermin thousands of people arriving from everywhere meeting in Pamplona to enjoy the festival and run the 'encierros'.

Is tipical in these dates to wear white clothes and red belt. If you haven't white clothes, don't worry in Pamplona you can find many stores with tipical clothes and tipical souvenirs, anyway in the moment of chupinazo all white clothes become in red clothes due people in the meeting throw away liters of wine each other for fun.

The most risky part of the encierro for all runners can be the Estafeta curve Street. Many bulls stumble and fall to the ground and can attack in violent way

Every morning at 8 o'clock,  people run in front of six bulls and another six steers on the narrow streets of the old town of Pamplona..The Spanish Tv broadcast the encierro every morning during the San Fermin week.
If you wanna do it, my advice is to be fit and the most important thing, be sober! Sometimes some foreigns drunks has caused accidents in the race and people died.

Also is very popular among foreign tourists, jumping from Navarreria source. I personally i can't understand it.. because seem very reckless and dangerous.. But people love it, specially when girls jumping. do u know why?

Anyway if you don't like run the 'encierro', also you can enjoy all kind of events in the city.
Every afternoon you can see a bullfight on the Pamplona's bullring, every night a firework spectacle is held at the citadel park. Stunning!
Pamplona is a wonderful city, very beautiful...

The last day all people meet in the Townhall Square at midnight on 14 July, singing the traditional song Pobre de Mi [poor me] very popular event too.
